Alfa Romeo has unveiled its 4C Spider 33 Stradale Tributo of which only 33 units of the limited edition will be produced for North America.
The latest offering from the Italian automotive stable has been described as being ‘inspired by the 1967 Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale’, the brand’s fabled and often drooled over by many classic car enthusiasts, mid-engine sports car.
Instantly recognisable, sleek, utterly gorgeous and now extremely rare, the 33 Stradale is, without doubt, one of the greatest looking machines ever created and will be a difficult act to mimic, with any design and style comparisons being instantly given the thumbs down by Alfa purists simply because, well, it ain’t a ‘real’ Stradale…
Since its introduction in 2014, the 4C has been a halo vehicle for Alfa Romeo, exciting enthusiasts around the world and spearheading the relaunch of the brand in North America.
The 4C Spider 33 Stradale Tributo is an instant Alfa Romeo classic that passes the torch to the next generation of iconic Alfa Romeo vehicles, including the upcoming Tonale PHEV crossover that will start production next year.
Alfa Romeo are no strangers to bringing inspirational styling to the design table but the 4C Spider 33 Stradale Tributo does seem to lack the ’wow factor’ it’s older and more curvaceous brother oozes in spades.
That said, the 4C Spider 33 Stradale Tributo does come exclusively dressed in a Rosso Villa d’Este tri-coat exterior colour, gray-gold 5-hole alloy wheels (18-inch front/19-inch rear) and a more luxurious interior with composite sport seats covered in black black Dinamica® suede and tobacco leather.
The modern cockpit delivers everything the owner would expect from a ’Tributo’ including dedicated plaques on the dash, side sills and centre console, just to remind you of that all important heritage factor, the last of which is progressively numbered.
Customers also get treated to a matching, numbered book designed by Centro Stile (Design centre) that chronicles the 4C’s design concept, technology, materials and Modena assembly facility as well as the history of the 33 Stradale.
The 4C Spider 33 Stradale Tributo’s advanced technologies include a 6-speed Alfa twin-clutch transmission and all-aluminium 1750cc turbocharged engine with direct-injection, dual intercoolers and variable-valve timing, producing 237 horsepower and 258 lb.-ft. of torque.
