The vintage-inspired Artega Karo-Isetta electric bubble car is available from April 2020 and the entry-level ‘Edition’ could be yours for just $20,100.
Inspired by its bubble car predecessors, the Karo-Isetta, which reaches speeds of up to 90 km / h and a range of over 200 kilometres, has now been given the green light for production with deliveries expected to be in April 2020.
The EV was officially recognised as the successor to the 1950s ISO Isetta by the heirs of Ermenegildo Preti’s father, reflecting the same distinctive features of the iconic cabin scooter embraced in the amazing story about Klaus-Günter Jacobi (79) who on a regular basis accompanied visitors through the museum rooms as an accomplished tourist guide.
German car manufacturer Artega has overcome its legal wrangle with the courts saying:
“After an amicable agreement with the former federal sales partner, all barriers to competition have been removed. Artega now has the worldwide production and marketing rights of KARO-Isetta.”
The two-seater Karo-Isetta will go on sale through the usual in-house sales department in January and will be available soon. Potential customers will be able to individually determine the technical equipment and the look of their Karo-Isetta in an online configurator via this link.
The company has introduced an initial two releases which are the ‘Intro’ series as a limited edition and the accompanying ‘Edition’ version. Whilst material and build will be similar with signature and individual numbering, several colours will be available including choices of leather/velour interior.
The limited ‘Intro’ costs 18,500 euros plus VAT (21,995 euros gross in Germany), the ‘Edition’ will be available from 15,122 euros plus VAT (17,995 euros gross in Germany).
Klaus Dieter Frers said:
“As a family business, we always keep an eye on future generations. Sustainability is therefore extremely important to us with our ‘Made in Germany’ electric vehicles. That is why the Karo-Isetta not only runs completely emission-free but is also manufactured here in the Autostadt Delbrück in a completely climate-neutral way.
“Our Autochen Karo-Isetta is a real alternative for young and young at heart urban people who don’t feel like bad ecological conscience and are always looking for a parking space, but at the same time don’t want to compromise on safety and comfort.
“You don’t need more car. The famous kiss ball is back.”
