Bonhams auctioneers are offering Ferrari connoisseurs a rare opportunity to purchase a unique and one of only three built, Ferrari 625TF. This rather petite and exquisite prancing horse will be offered at the forthcoming Monaco Sale ‘Les Grandes Marques À Monaco‘ 11 May 2018, Monte Carlo.

Any prospective bidders wishing to secure this stunning Ferrari junior can expect to fork out no less than a staggering €4,500,000 – 6,500,000 for this ex-Works, Mike Hawthorn, Umberto Maglioli spider version.

Coachwork was by Vignale and one of only three were ever produced, including one lone coupe, which succumbed to fire damage and two spider versions of this glorious little powerhouse. The lightweight aluminium bodied Ferrari 625 TF was a decent fighter in the motoring boxing ring, reaching fourth position in the Grand Prix at the Autodromo in Monza in June 1953.

The innovative 2.5 litre engine, supported on extra strengthened tubular chassis work, certainly had the beginnings of what was later carried out on the more successful Monza and Mondial. Side mounted Weber 50 DCO4 carburettors allowed better styling with side vents rather than the obnoxious power-bulge we often love to hate on certain rods.

All three cars were sold and subsequently transplanted with different engines, which were likely to be 3 litre. TF apparently referred to the Targa Florio even though the car never actually raced in it.
