Gunther Werks has just completed one of its stunning 25 commissions of the ‘remastered’ 993-generation 911 and the Irish Green Porsche is ready to hit the road on St Patricks Day…
Much like every other stunning Gunther Werks creations, this ‘Irish Green Commission’ features a 4.0-litre flat-six power unit courtesy of Rothsport Racing, who do their thing customising pistons, conrods, ignition and modern Motec ECU electronics… this is then coupled to a Getrag six-speed manual transmission with custom gear ratios, delivering a neck-breaking 435 BHP and 335 lb-ft of torque. The end result is a powerful and smile-inducing symphony that’s enough to turn the heads of even the most arthritic onlookers.
As ever the custom upgrades have been knocked out of the park again with the exterior featuring a sumptuous Irish Green accompanied by English Tan leather, in touring specification. Carbon fibre is put to good use again with two carbon-fibre racing stripes strategically positioned down the middle of the vehicle while a more subtle approach is given to the soft cream line-work leading nicely into the more striking Porsche decal at the base of the door.
Detailing and exterior styling is rounded off by some light gold coloured Fuchs style wheels and a bold Gunther Werks-first hexagonal pattern grille incorporated into the engine cover.
Slowing down and suspension arrives in the shape of Eisenlohr Racing and JRZ Suspension Engineering and includes extra-large cross-drilled Brembo discs and pads which hopefully should be enough to slow down what’s sure to be an over-excited pilot.
As with all commissions of the 993 Remastered by the Southern California based workshop, every vehicle is a bespoke creation and this one is no different with the customer requesting not only the colour combinations but also heavier leather and comprehensive noise insulation to ensure a small portion of that 4.0-litre growl is left well and truly outside of the cabin space.
The interior is remarkably well detailed for a car that’s doing its best to lose weight and features the extensive use of English Tan leather and charcoal alcantara throughout the cockpit. The hollow carbon fibre seat shells feature leather seating surfaces with an off-centre alcantara stripe that have been specifically designed by the in-house team and wilfully thrust the 993 firmly back to the future.
The cabin is an extremely pleasant experience and incorporates extra leather padding applied to the hip panels of the seat, around the seat belt buckles, covering the carbon fibre floor mats, and for those trendy door pulls… there’s also a bonus leather 12 o’clock stripe on the alcantara steering wheel. Green details include the tachometer and specially-coloured anodized JRZ suspension canisters, which are another first for Gunther Werks.
The Irish Green Commission is one of only 25 remastered 993-generation 911s that Gunther Werks plans with each build starting at an eye-watering $585,000.
