Lamborghini’s New Countach Could Be A Stylish Mid-Engine Hybrid

Lamborghini is reattaching its Countach nameplate to a brand new mid-engine supercar that could be announced as soon as the Munich Motor Show in September…

Let’s face it, the only way to really appreciate the outlandish Countach is to rewind half a century, dig out those tight jeans that don’t fit nowadays, and listen to Rod Stewart sailing around on that Technics record player that sits gathering dust in the loft.

Yes, the Countach was and still is a ‘supercar’ that stepped into the oversized Miura tyre tracks and although never managed to achieve the dizzy selling heights of its stylish predecessor, it was a trail-blazing stallion that ripped up the previously definitive sports-car rule book.

The Italian marque released a single teaser image alongside an elaborate video with the tagline asking “What do you see? – A new image ready to be hung on a wall… or the rebirth of a dream

While Lamborghini hasn’t given any indication of the design yet, the indications point firmly towards its earlier heritage without the obtrusive rear fin.

CEO Stefan Winkelmann wouldn’t be drawn as to what will power the ‘all-new’ Countach but did steer towards technology and the electrification of the reborn supercar. The ‘LPI 800-4’ point firmly in the 4-wheel drive direction coupled with LPI or Longitudinale Posteriore Ibrido (hybrid).
