The inaugural Auto Royale and British International Concours d’Elegance event has now been rescheduled to July 2021 due to the global impact of COVID-19.
Organisers made the difficult decision following more news from the government that lockdown restrictions would remain place for at least another 3 weeks and could go even further if the 5 levels of criteria are not met.
- Confidence that the NHS can still provide sufficient critical care and specialist treatment across the UK
- The need to see a sustained and consistent fall in the daily death rate to be confident we are beyond the peak
- Reliable data from SAGE that the infection rate has decreased to manageable levels
- Testing capacity and PPE is in hand to meet supply for future demand
- Not risk a second peak of infection that overwhelms the NHS
The event was originally due to make its debut onto the classic car calendar 17 – 19 July 2020 at the ancestral home of the Spencer family in Northamptonshire and was described as a true festival event which would attract the very affluent and high net worth collectors along with ABC1 owners and enthusiasts of the automotive lifestyle with a range of internationally-proven activations and attractions.
Paul Mathers, Director at Marque II events said:
“We have been encouraged and humbled by the support we have received from car collectors, sponsors and exhibitors. It is for them that we have pushed so hard, and so optimistically, to commit to our July dates for Auto Royale. However, out of respect for our supporters and the ongoing efforts to deal with the pandemic, we have made the difficult decision to reschedule the inaugural Auto Royale until summer 2021. The health and well-being of everyone involved in Auto Royale remains the priority and we just cannot continue during the current extraordinary circumstances.”
“While we are disappointed, this is the responsible decision to make at a time when our country along with the rest of the world is facing this crisis. All visitors who have purchased tickets will be provided with a full refund. I would like to thank our supporters and wish them well at this difficult time and we look forward to celebrating the very best of motoring together at Auto Royale in 2021. We are determined and motivated to put on a great show.”
More news on all postponed and rescheduled events will follow as and when these are released.
