RM Sotheby’s give collectors the chance to purchase the ultimate Ford GT at the 2018 Fort Lauderdale auction.
Recognised as South Florida’s premier collector car auction, RM Auctions’ Fort Lauderdale sale returns to the Greater Fort Lauderdale/Broward County Convention Center this 6–7 April.
Previously held under the Auctions America banner, the 2017 Fort Lauderdale sale generated an impressive $17.3 million total with bidders hailing from nearly all 50 states and 11 countries around the world. The sale was topped by a beautifully restored 1963 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Roadster at $1,200,000, as well as the noted JLG Autocrib Collection, a group of 26 influential Porsche models offered without reserve.
The 2006 Ford GT being showcased in the forthcoming 2018 event is chassis No. 401960, in extraordinary condition and displaying a frugal 10.8 miles on the digital readout. RM Sotheby’s expects the car to sell for a staggering $300,000 to $350,000 when it goes under the hammer in April.
Finished in white and features three of the four options available on the model – racing stripes, painted brake calipers, and forged alloy BBS wheels. The GT is offered without reserve and is expected to attract a global interest when it crosses the RM Auctions block in April.
Donnie Gould, Car Specialist, RM Sotheby’s Group said:
“We are thrilled to be returning to the Fort Lauderdale Convention Center for 2018, and look forward to growing the sale under the RM brand.
“The strength and global reach of the now larger RM Sotheby’s Group will allow us to bring an even higher quality and more diverse selection of vehicles to Fort Lauderdale, while simultaneously exposing a wider and more international network of clients to the event.
“The extremely low-mileage Ford GT is a fantastic fit and a great early highlight for the auction, and one that we are proud to be offering on behalf of its original owner.”
Just how the car has remained below 11 miles on it’s speedometer is anyone’s guess, but collectors of this rare beast will no doubt be willing to stretch the budget to achieve a successful sale.
Many of the classic cynical world will sound this out as a ‘complete waste of car’ and given it’s pleasure or usability factor, that’s a difficult shout to argue against?
