Rod Stewart's Lamborghini Miura P400 S Goes To Auction Expecting £1,400,000

A Lamborghini Miura P400 S, previously owned by prolific song writer Rod Stewart will go under the Sotheby’s hammer in their 12th annual London Sale.

The raspy voiced singer is one of the most successful musical artists of all time, churning out hit after hit including, Stay With Me, Some Guys Have All The Luck, Hot Legs and of course Da Ya Think I’m Sexy.

RM Sotheby’s is said to be delighted to confirm the Italian supercar is joining its forthcoming London auction, to take place on 5 September.

The 1971 Lamborghini Miura P400 S, once owned by rock and pop legend Rod Stewart, will join a 1962 Lotus Elite Super 95 gifted to Team Lotus driver Jim Clark by Colin Chapman in the 1960s in lieu of payment for his services to the racing team. A rare 1961 Aston Martin DB4GT previously owned by famed actor Peter Sellers has already been announced for the London auction, which will be held at Battersea Evolution.

Rare Right-Hand Drive

The Lamborghini Miura P400 S, chassis no. 4863, is a rare right-hand drive example, delivered new to Rod Stewart in 1971 by Lamborghini Concessionaires Ltd. of Alie Street, London. A file including the car’s original records from the dealership is included in the sale, together with the original delivery note that denotes the car’s original specification with right-hand drive, factory air conditioning, and seatbelts. The same file also features a photo of Stewart’s then-girlfriend, model Dee Harrington, pictured with another Miura alongside this ‘S’ model with its registration ‘JLL 831K’, which the car still retains.

Since Stewart’s tenure of the car, the Miura has a documented chain of ownership from new, including more than two decades with a single enthusiast. Under current ownership, the Miura has recently been fully restored by Lamborghini’s in-house classic restoration department, Polo Storico, to the tune of €300,000. The car is estimated to fetch £1,200,000 to £1,400,000 at RM Sotheby’s London sale. Prior to the sale, the Miura will be entered at the Salon Privé Concours d’Elegance at Blenheim Palace, 30 August to 1 September.
