Classic car auctions can throw up some seriously cool historical flirtations, none more so than the forthcoming Classic Car Sale which takes place Saturday 2nd June at The Warwickshire Event Centre near Leamington Spa.

Hosted by CCA, this eclectic auction event has some impressive headliners amongst it’s stimulating lot list. We’ve deliberated, cogitated and finally regurgitated the ones that stood out of the very flirtatious crowd of classic heavyweights, then listed them below for you’re leisurely consumption.

Classic Car – Ford Capri 2.0 GT XLR

When it comes to classics, the Ford Capri needs no introduction and on looks alone lives up to it’s 70s ‘knicker dropping’ tagline. This 2.0 GT XLR version of the breed is a manual transmission that has been with the current owner for the last 49 years. Close to pristine, this 24,000 miler was apparently given lots of TLC by Father, Mother and now Son.

The 2.0 GT was proudly touted as ‘top of the range’ by Ford and boasted 113bhp from the Essex V4, nestled underneath a bonnet that goes on longer than a family insurance advert. This mechanically overhauled beast looks worth a bid, if you have £12,000 – £15,000 to invest.

Barmy Bavarian

German engineering often provides the class in the classic, and this barmy Bavarian is certainly worth a close inspection. It’s a 3.2L 1999 BMW Z3M Coupe manual and power is delivered from the S50B32 engine, E36 M3, producing an eye watering 317bhp.

Not the most eye-catching of colours, but it does have that ‘wow’ looking factor. Take a punt and your missus will either get the satin sheets out, or throw your trendy flares out of the window.

1983 Talbot Sunbeam Lotus S2

Last but not least, this stunning 1983 Talbot Sunbeam Lotus S2 is being offered by the current owner as authentic and pristine. One of the hottest hatchbacks being thrashed around in the 70s, this sprightly 2172cc twin-cam monster breathed through two twin-choke Dellorto carbs and delivered a whopping 155bhp.

This fireball includes a ‘Skip Brown’ limited-slip differential, 5-spd ZF gearbox, and is the non-sunroof optioned model. It has 53,000 miles recorded on it’s speedometer and is coloured in the period Moonstone Blue with ‘Piccadilly’ black cloth interior.

The only downside to this pocket-rocket is the estimated value of £20,000 – £25,000, which could well be achieved if the bidders are keen enough.
