ŠKODA will pay tribute to the man who dedicated a large segment of his life to the restoration of his beloved 1961 Octavia.
The 60th anniversary of the ŠKODA Octavia arrives with a documentary that includes the past, present and future of the longest active model in the country. An emotional journey through the experiences of Juan Carlos Peralta, its owner, and a ŠKODA who decided to give him a second life.
In November 2018 the automotive brand called through its social networks to find the oldest ŠKODA in Spain. The winning model and its owner would be the protagonists of a documentary as well as being invited to the museum and the ŠKODA factory to know the factory located in the city of Mladá Boleslav, in the Czech Republic.
Juan Carlos Peralta (Lalueza, Huesca) and his ŠKODA Octavia from 1961, were the winners of the contest. Juan Carlos, an aficionado of mechanics and old cars, decided to start a restoration project of a car he found in a dismantle in a very poor state of conservation, but which he fell in love with its line and its rounded shape.
In the documentary, Juan Carlos explains the difficulties he underwent during the restoration process at a time when, in order to find parts and replacements, he could not resort to Internet help. Through several contacts, he got the pieces from a workshop in the Czech Republic and could start a process that would last several years and culminate with the restoration of a brand new Octavia with and accessories and 100% original pieces.
But Juan Carlos is not satisfied with this achievement; its objective is to continue keeping it in perfect condition so that its Octavia remains the oldest ŠKODA in Spain active for many more years.
With this documentary, available on the social networks of the brand, ŠKODA wanted to pay tribute to the 60 years of the Octavia, the eighth model of the brand and also vindicate the importance of maintenance and the official after-sales service. And, of course, to make known the testimony of Juan Carlos and his ŠKODA Octavia del 61, a story that, according to him, he has just begun.
